Dammit, Iâm running behind.
I left Mr. Pierceâs house later than planned because of the kitchen accident, which led to our lengthy conversation. I always love any excuse to talk to Mr. Pierce, and today was especially nice because he seemed more at ease than normal. Maybe even a little flirty.
But I donât have time to think about that surprise right now, or how his gorgeous smile makes my panties melt, or the way I could barely think straight when we were talking because he smelled so damn good it made my ovaries ache.
My innate clumsiness and our little chit-chat put me way behind schedule, which is why Iâm rushing around like crazy, trying to get ready for my third date with Mr. Mysterious.
I glance at the time on my phone for the tenth time since bursting through my apartment door earlier and speed into overdrive.
My stomach is in knots, and my hands are shaking as I try to put on the delicate silver earrings Iâve picked out. This time, I have a better idea of what to expect, and I know heâs not some asshole who wants to tie me up and rub snake oil all over me. Thank God.
No, this time Iâm nervous for a whole different reason.
Iâve missed his touch since the moment he straightened my clothes and helped me up from the chair in that pitch-dark hotel room last week. Iâm longing for him to take me tonight, in whatever way he wantsâroughly, gently, teasingly. Iâm sure all the ways Iâve imagined it would be phenomenal with him at the helm. Iâll take his strong hands, talented mouth, and commanding tone any day.
And even if it isnât perfect for some reason, Iâll still be able to scratch ânever been laidâ off my list of life failures. So, thereâs that at least.
Iâve planned a surprise for him tonight.
Gone are the sweet, pink lacy underwear. I purchased a little something from Dark Dreams. Itâs a sharp contrast to the innocent get-up I bought for prom night years ago. This one is much more⦠kinky. Iâve tried it on twice, and damn, I have to admit I donât look half bad.
Kinda badass, too. Like I could be on the cover of one of those racy comic books. Itâs just a bit of sexy insurance to make sure he canât resist following through this time.
I pull my dress on over top of it then slip on my other new purchaseâhigh heels. Theyâre black, sleek, and make my calves look amazing. I just hope I can walk in them without falling flat on my face.
That dream lasts exactly five seconds.
I take two steps and snag the heel on the edge of the rug in my bedroom. I go down hard, grabbing at my bed as I fall.
Lying on the floor with my bedspread tangled around me, itâs clear I canât wear the heels if I want to make it out of my apartment alive. So much for sprinting down the steps to my carâthat would clearly result in instant death.
